Sushi anyone?

Ok... so I'm Asian but I know jack squat about sushi.  A lot of my friends are into sushi.  Not that I'm NOT into it, or don't like it, but I haven't eaten it much in my lifetime (yet).

"Do you speak Mandarin?"..... inside nail salon joke I often make fun of.  Sorry, I don't speak Mandarin, or any other languages unfortunately.  The Facebook quiz titled "How Asian Are You?" labeled me as a "Twinkie Asian"... yellow on the outside, white on the inside...lol.  Somewhat true I guess since I didn't grow up with a ton of Asian culture, AND I was adopted.

Anthony is not keen on the idea of eating sushi.  Plus he thinks he may be allergic to shellfish.  But he loves Japanese sticky white rice.  We don't go out for traditional Asian foods, so unless it's food at places like Panda Express or Wonderful Chinese, you can forget it!

Sushi is not raw fish... at least I know that much.  Sushi is Japanese cuisine prepared with vinegar rice topped with a variety of ingredients, some of which can include raw fish.  I've eaten (and really like the taste of) inari sushi (my favorite), which is basically sushi grade rice in a ball wrapped with a fried tofu skin... pretty basic stuff.  Then there's the typical California roll, which is rice wrapped with nori (dried seaweed wrap) often times with cucumber and other things inside the middle of the rice, sometimes crab or avocado.  That's about the extent of my experience with sushi... not much.

I think I would like it a lot if I had more of a chance to try it.  I do enjoy trying new foods from time to time.  Many people I know love it, and consider it a treat.  Sushi anyone?
